Decision time looms in F1

And so today is the day we see which Formula 1 teams actually make it onto the grid in 2010. Could we have an empty pit lane? Doubt it very much. What about a pit lane full of unknown new team name + a few others we know (Williams, Force India) – possibly. Or could we possibly have 13 teams – all the 10 from this year + 3 new ones? I think that is the most likely outcome, but that it won’t be finalised today at all – months of negotiations lie ahead, but Max Mosley usually gets his way in the end.

One other possible scenario is that 13 teams get picked, then a few of the manufacturers pull out (e.g. Toyota, Renault, BMW) but too late in the day for a new team to develop a car. So, unless we have another Brawn-style management buyout, we could end up with 10 teams again at the start of 2010, but 3 of them being new ones.
